VAIL hosts the 37th Annual ‘KING OF THE MOUNTAIN’ OPEN June 19-21, 2009

Tournament Timeline:
Check-in: each day - 8:00 a.m. with play to begin immediately afterwards. All pre-registered teams must check-in (early check-in available beginning noon on Friday). Late registrations will be accepted - space available.
Friday: Men’s Masters and Seniors, Co-ed A, BB (Finals Same Day).
Friday: Free Juniors Doubles Clinic (12:30 to 5:00 p.m.) - (interested juniors can register on-site beginning at noon).
Saturday: Men’s and Women’s Open, A, BB, B. Juniors pool-play and playoffs same day.
Saturday Evening: There will be a player’s party Saturday evening offering finger-food, beer, wine, and a cash bar.
Sunday: Men’s and Women’s Open, A, BB, B playoffs. Father-Son and Father-Daughter pool-play and playoffs same day.
Men’s and Women’s Open: Double-elimination; Finals - Sunday afternoon/Cash and merchandise prizes.

Riders descending Vail Pass in the Triple Bypass event

triple-bypass-vail-passOver 120 miles and more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain over three major mountain passes make this an event only for the fittest cyclists. The ride runs from Evergreen, Colorado to Avon over Squaw (11,140 ft.), Loveland (11,990 ft.), Swan Mountain and Vail (10,560 ft.) passes, with over 10,000 ft of elevation change.

Bicycle Tour of Colorado June 21-27, 2009

The 15th annual Tour starts on the heels of the Ride the Rockies tour in Glenwood Springs. The Glenwood Springs/Crested Butte loop travels from Glenwood Springs to Hotchkiss, Grand Junction, Montrose, Crested Butte, Buena Vista, and back to Glenwood Springs for the finish. The tour covers over 513 miles.

Denver Post Ride The Rockies comes to Leadville

The annual bike tour involving 2,000 cyclists finished day four with the Buena Vista to Leadville leg. The tour started on Sunday June 14, in Glenwood Springs with overnights in Hotchkiss, Gunnison, Salida, and Leadville. Thursday’s route has the cyclists biking from Leadville up the Independence Pass ending the day in Aspen. The last day will finish the tour in Glenwood Springs, finishing the six day 380-mile Glenwood Springs Loop. 2009ridetherockiesroute1

The America Cup Returns to Frisco

The internationally recognized America Cup hosts 15 professional fly-fishing teams from all over the world. Over 80 participants are expected to compete. It is not only a team competition but the winning individual purse is over $20,000. The competition lasts from August 22-28th taking place on several rivers that surround Frisco.
